The Confidence Trap That Keeps You From Starting

October 13, 20252 min read

You’ve got the dream.

You’re licensed (or working on it), you're obsessed with skin or lashes or brows, and you’ve thought more than once:

"I want to start my own business someday..."

Maybe you even bought a ring light.
Maybe you've been thinking about setting up a room in your basement.
Or maybe you're still in the
“what if I’m not ready?” stage.

If that sounds familiar ~ let's talk about something that stops a lot of beauty professionals right here.

It’s called the Dunning-Kruger Effect ~ and it might be the real reason you haven’t started your business yet.

Here’s What Happens:

When you first learn something new ~ like esthetics or lashes ~ you’re full of energy and confidence.
You feel like:

"I've got this. I could totally do this as a business"

But the more you learn, the less confident you feel.

You suddenly realize:

  • There’s so much you don’t know

  • You’ve never done your own taxes

  • You’re not sure how to get clients

  • Branding, marketing, insurance, pricing…

And that early spark of confidence?
Gone.

This is so normal— and it even has a name:

'The Valley of Despair'

But Here's the Truth:

That dip in confidence doesn’t mean you’re not cut out to start a beauty business.

It means you’re aware.
You’re thinking about things most people avoid.
You’re
growing before you’ve even launched.

The dip means you care about doing it right ~ and that's a good thing.

What You Need Now Is a Guide and a Plan.

You don’t need to be “ready.”
You don’t need to know everything.
You don’t need a logo, a studio, or a fancy website to start.

You just need structure, support, and a next step.

That’s why I created Beauty Business Start Up Academy™— to help beauty pros like you turn the idea of a business into a real, sustainable, aligned business you’re proud to run.

Inside the Academy, I’ll help you:

  • Get clear on your vision

  • Help you attract, grow and retain your clientele

  • Learn the business stuff that school didn’t teach you

  • Build a beauty business that supports your life, not the other way around

You don’t have to figure it out alone ~ and you don’t have to wait.

  • You’re not behind.

  • You’re not unqualified.

  • You’re already enough to begin.
