Your Clients Are Out There - Here's How To Find Them
If you've ever wondered: "How do I build my clientele?"
You're not alone ~ it's the #1 question I get from estheticians and beauty professionals starting out or trying to grow.
The answer?
There’s no one perfect way — it depends on your goals, your stage in business, your community, your budget and even your confidence.
It’s not one big move ~ it’s a mix of smart, consistent steps that bring the right people into your world.
No matter where you are on your journey, the 10 low-cost strategies below can help you start building your beauty business today with the right clients - the clients you want to serve.
So, let’s dive in:
1️⃣Know Who You're Talking To - Define Your Ideal Client
Before you do anything, get crystal clear on who you want to serve? What are they struggling with? What are their desired results.
When you know who your ideal client is, you can market with intention — not desperation. And when you speak to one specific person, you’ll attract many more of them.
2️⃣Show Up Where Your Clients Hang Out
When using social media you don’t need to be everywhere. You just need to be consistently adding value somewhere.
Choose 1-2 social platforms that your ideal client uses and you will use: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn etc. and focus your time there. If you don’t want to dance on Tik Tok then don’t go there.
3️⃣Create Magnetic Messaging
When speaking to your clients don’t just say what you do (services you offer)~ speak to what your clients need (their struggles and desired results)
Are they tired of breakouts? Hate drawing in their brows? Wish they had glowing skin for their wedding? Show them you have the solution. ie. you’re not just offering lash lifts ~ you’re offering confidence, ease, and time saved.
4️⃣Start (and Use) an Email List
Social media is great — but your email list is yours (It is an asset to your business that you own). Start collecting emails now and grow your list daily. Send regular content that educates, inspires, and promotes in a way that feels like a conversation, not a sales pitch.
5️⃣Set Up & Optimize Your Google Business Profile
This is non-negotiable and it’s FREE. Do you have a Google Business Profile? Is it up to date? Is it optimized? Your profile helps people find you when they’re searching for your service locally.
Make sure you’re showing up in search. Add your hours, photos, services, links and more.
6️⃣Ask for Reviews ~ And Share Them
Social proof builds trust. A glowing review is more powerful than any ad. Ask your happy clients for testimonials ~ and share them everywhere: Google, your website, and social media.
Make it easy for clients to leave feedback, and repost it often. When people are searching for what you have to offer they will look at the reviews first before making a decision to visit your business and buy from you.
7️⃣Offer a Referral Program
People love to share great finds and word of mouth is powerful. Reward both the client who refers and the one they refer and you achieve a Win-Win for everyone.
8️⃣Partner with Local Businesses
Is your ideal client hanging out at the yoga studio next door or the coffee shop down the street? Collaborate with fellow businesses that serve a similar audience. Create a cross-promotion or bundle that services both businesses.
9️⃣Host Events That Build Buzz
Hosting events can be fun for you and your clients. Think:
mini skincare workshops
brow bar pop-ups
a makeup + photo shoot day
A VIP night for new products and services
Ask suppliers for items used in giveaways, door prizes and swag bags, create special offers for the event that invite your guests back to enjoy your services at a later date.
🔟Be Seen in Your Community
Sometimes “marketing” just means being visible. Put yourself out there. You never know who’s looking for someone like you and what you have to offer.
Go to that trade show or local market. Say yes to that local networking event. Share your passion.
Here’s the truth:
✨ You don’t need to go viral to build a loyal clientele.
You just need clarity, consistency, and connection.
✨ Building a thriving clientele doesn’t happen by accident. It happens by design.
Which one of these strategies will you try first? Pick 1 or 2 strategies and start there. Trying to do them all at once will create overwhelm.
And if you need help turning this list into a step-by-step plan — I’m here to guide you.
You've got this,
Michelle 💕
